FAMOUS GINGERSNAPS

INGREDIENTS & HOW TO
makes about 4 doz. OK to double recipe, I normally
do
Cream together:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
Add to above mixture:
1/3 cup dark molasses
1 egg, beaten
Sift together and add to above, mix well:
2 cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp EACH: cinnamon, cloves, ginger**
** - MB's secret: That would be a very generous teaspoon.
One time I measured it and it came out to TWO tsp of each. So if you want
them to be like mine - don't stint on your spices.
This makes a slightly sticky dough. Roll into 1" balls, and roll
in a bowl of white sugar (optional but nice) Place 2" apart on ungreased
sheets.
Bake 12-15 minutes at 350F. Watch carefully - they burn suddenly.
